Gun Collectors Dream Auction #84 June 13th & 14th
Lot 1482:
Sold for: $130
Description
This Marlin Model 80-DL is a bolt-action rifle chambered for .22 caliber Short, Long, and Long Rifle cartridges. The rifle features a blued steel barrel and receiver assembly mounted in a smooth wood stock. Technical specifications include a receiver-mounted peep sight and a ramped front sight base, which were standard features for the Deluxe (DL) model designation. The stock is equipped with front and rear sling swivel loops and has been fitted with a black Pachmayr Decelerator slip-on recoil pad. Verbatim markings roll-stamped on the barrel include The Marlin Firearms Co. NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A – EST. 1870 and MODEL 80-DL – 22 CAL – S – L – LR. This firearm is missing its magazine. No serial number is visible on the external surfaces of the receiver or barrel, which is typical for Marlin rimfire rifles produced prior to 1968. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The original blued finish on the barrel and receiver shows significant thinning throughout, having largely transitioned to a brown patina with scattered areas of light surface oxidation and pinprick pitting. The smooth wood stock remains structurally sound but exhibits numerous dings, pressure marks, and scratches consistent with field use. The action appears to function correctly when cycled manually, although it has not been live-fire tested. The bore was not inspected. The magazine is missing from the magazine well. The slip-on recoil pad shows light external wear.
