Description
This lot features twenty-two live cartridges of Hornady Custom .500 S&W Magnum ammunition accompanied by ten empty brass casings. The cartridges are contained within two original partial factory boxes. The first box, product number 9252, holds cartridges loaded with 500 grain Flat Point (FP) XTP bullets, which have a factory-listed muzzle velocity of 1425 fps. The second box, product number 9249, contains cartridges with 300 grain FTX polymer-tipped projectiles, listed with a muzzle velocity of 2075 fps. Prominent markings on the packaging include Hornady Ammunition, Innovation Since 1949, and specific ballistic performance tables for muzzle, 50 yard, and 100 yard distances. Headstamps on the brass components are verbatim transcribed as HORNADY 500 S&W MAG. The collection is supplemented by ten empty brass casings suitable for reloading or display.
Condition report:
The brass cartridge cases show a natural patina with minor surface tarnish throughout. The 500 grain lead projectiles exhibit light surface oxidation on the exposed tips. The 300 grain FTX rounds appear in good condition with well-preserved red polymer tips. The original cardboard packaging displays significant shelf wear, including corner compression, scuffed edges, and the presence of adhesive retail stickers. All twenty-two primary cartridges appear to be live and in serviceable condition.
