Gun Collectors Dream Auction #84 June 13th & 14th
Lot 1510:
Sold for: $30
Description
This lot consists of 60 empty brass rifle casings manufactured by Remington-Peters, designed as components for ammunition reloading. The collection features casings chambered for .280 Remington, including those marked with the synonymous 7mm Express Remington designation. Technical markings on the headstamps are transcribed as R-P 280 REM and R-P 7MM EXP REM. The brass is housed in a blue MTM Case-Gard 50-round plastic ammunition box, which includes a internal grid and space for loose components. The interior of the box lid contains handwritten notations in blue ink that read NEED TO SIZE and 280 REM. These spent casings exhibit the expected characteristics of previously fired ammunition components, including carbon fouling at the necks and spent primers still seated in the primer pockets.
Condition report:
The brass casings are in good once-fired condition, showing typical carbon residue at the case mouths and necks from previous discharge. The brass remains bright with minor surface oxidation consistent with age and storage. All primers are spent and remain in place. The blue MTM Case-Gard plastic box is in functional condition with a secure latch, though it bears permanent handwritten ink markings on the inner lid as noted.
