Lot 1520:
Sold for: $110
Description
This Benjamin Air Rifle Co. Model 300 Benjamin Franklin is a multi-pump pneumatic air rifle featuring a single-shot bolt-action design. The rifle is chambered for .177 caliber pellets and is configured with a nickel-plated finish on the metal components. The metal surfaces show extensive cosmetic wear with numerous scratches, scuffs, and areas of dulling to the plating. The furniture consists of a plain wood stock with a straight comb and an integrated forend, both of which exhibit significant wear including various dings, scratches, and sticker residue on the right side of the buttstock. Sighting is handled by a fixed blade front sight and a notched rear sight. Key markings include the end cap which is stamped BENJAMIN AIR RIFLE CO. ST LOUIS U.S.A. NO. 300 PATENTED SUPER SINGLE SHOT and the side of the receiver which is marked BENJAMIN FRANKLIN. Additionally, the compression tube features the instructions AIR HOLE DONT OIL and the receiver is marked COCK HAMMER TO RELEASE SAFETY. The action appears to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this air rifle for pressure or velocity. Note – As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.
Condition report:
The nickel plating shows significant wear across all metal surfaces, including heavy scratching, scuffs, and dulling of the finish. The wood stock is in well-used condition with numerous handling marks, indentations, and visible scratches consistent with age; adhesive residue is present on the right side of the butt. The action appears mechanically functional, and the pump rod moves freely, but it has not been tested for airtight seals or firing capability. The sights are intact with some surface oxidation.
