Gun Collectors Dream Auction #84 June 13th & 14th
Lot 1524:
Sold for: $75
Description
The Stevens Model 94 Series M is a classic single-shot, break-action shotgun chambered for 20 gauge shells and designed for utility and field use. This example features a 28-inch blued barrel that is proof tested for both 2 3/4 and 3 inch shells, fitted with a traditional single front bead sight. The receiver displays a mottled color case-hardened finish and is equipped with an external hammer and a top-lever break-action release mechanism. The firearm is mounted with a wooden stock and forend that feature pressed diamond-pattern checkering at the wrist and the underside of the forearm. Verbatim markings on the left side of the receiver include SAVAGE ARMS WESTFIELD, MASS. U.S.A. STEVENS MODEL 94 SERIES M and the serial number P509919. The barrel is clearly stamped PROOF TESTED 20 GAUGE 2 3/4 & 3 INCH SHELLS. The stock is completed with a black plastic buttplate. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The barrel retains a high percentage of its original blued finish, showing light surface wear and minor scattered spotting. The receiver retains visible color case-hardened mottling, though the finish shows some fading and light surface oxidation. The wooden furniture exhibits significant signs of field use, including numerous dings, scratches, and notable finish loss, particularly along the forend and the comb of the stock. The black plastic buttplate is chipped at the toe. While we have not function-tested this firearm, the action appears to operate correctly. The bore was not inspected.
