Gun Collectors Dream Auction #84 June 13th & 14th
Lot 1550:
Sold for: $150
Description
This Benjamin Model G pump-action air rifle is chambered in .22 caliber and features a brass barrel and pump tube assembly integrated with a straight-wrist walnut wood stock. The rifle utilizes a muzzle-mounted plunger-style pump handle to charge the internal air reservoir and is equipped with a fixed front blade sight and a rear notch sight. Prominent markings stamped on the rear receiver cap include BENJAMIN AIR RIFLE & MFG CO, PATD NOV 25 1913, JUL 17 1917, OTHER PATS PENDING, MODEL G, and ST LOUIS USA. A smaller stamp on the side of the brass tube reads AIR HOLE followed by a small aperture and DONT OIL. The walnut stock is paired with a steel trigger and trigger guard featuring a darkened finish. We have not function-tested this air rifle for air pressure retention. Note – As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.
Condition report:
The brass components exhibit a heavy aged patina with scattered tarnish, surface oxidation, and minor handling marks throughout the barrel and pump tube. The walnut stock shows various dings, scratches, and a small hairline crack at the top where it meets the receiver cap. The steel trigger and trigger guard show a darkened finish with light surface wear and minor oxidation. The bore was not inspected. The pump and trigger actions appear to operate mechanically, but the item has not been tested for pressure or firing capability.
