Lot 1552:
A Collection of 180 Empty .308 Winchester Brass Casings for Reloading
Sold for: $45
Description
This lot comprises a collection of 180 spent brass ammunition casings primarily chambered for .308 Winchester, suitable for reloading or various craft applications. The group consists of a bulk quantity in a clear plastic bag and a small selection of loose casings provided for closer inspection. The casings exhibit the standard rimless, bottleneck profile associated with the .308 Winchester caliber. A review of the headstamps reveals several prominent manufacturers, including Federal Cartridge, Prvi Partizan, Aguila, and Western Cartridge Company. Verbatim markings transcribed from the case heads include F C 308 WIN, PPU 308 WIN, AGUILA .308 WIN, and WCC 88. These items are inert, consisting only of the brass shells with spent primers, and contain no live propellant or projectiles.
Condition report:
The brass casings are in once-fired, used condition. They show a natural aged patina with varying levels of surface tarnish and darkening consistent with the combustion of gunpowder. The exterior surfaces are generally smooth with occasional minor scratches or small dings resulting from the mechanical extraction and ejection process. The primer pockets are currently seated with spent primers. No signs of severe corrosion, neck splits, or structural failure were observed during visual inspection.
