Description

This semi-automatic shotgun is a Winchester Model 1911 S.L. chambered for 12-gauge shells, featuring a 28-inch barrel with a fixed full choke and intended for field use. The barrel is notably equipped with a knurled section for manual operation of the action and is fitted with a front bead sight. Metal surfaces consist of a receiver and barrel that originally featured a blued finish, now showing significant thinning and transitioning to a greyish patina. The furniture is comprised of a plain walnut stock and forearm, with the latter showing a prominent longitudinal crack on the left side. The shotgun terminates in a black composite buttplate embossed with the circular Winchester Repeating Arms Co. logo. Key markings include the model designation on the upper tang, which reads WINCHESTER -TRADE MARK- REG.U.S.A.&FGN. MOD.1911.S.L., and the serial number 70096 preceded by the letter A located on the underside of the receiver. Barrel markings specify NICKEL STEEL followed by patent dates ranging from FEB. 17. 1903 to JUNE 4. 1912, as well as 12 GA. and FULL. Due to the design characteristics of this model, this firearm is offered for repair or parts only and it is strongly advised that the winning bidder DO NOT SHOOT this firearm. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.

Condition report:

The metal finish exhibits widespread thinning and wear with light scratches throughout, having developed a mostly grey patina with some remaining blue in protected areas. The walnut forearm has a significant longitudinal crack on the left side, while the buttstock shows common dings and handling marks consistent with age. The bore shows some darkness and light pitting. The action appears to function mechanically, but based on the known safety issues associated with this specific model and its current condition, it is being sold strictly as a non-firing specimen for parts or repair.
