Gun Collectors Dream Auction #84 June 13th & 14th
Lot 1582:
Sold for: $90
Description
This lot consists of a quantity of 60 rounds of Federal Premium Gold Medal Match centerfire rifle ammunition chambered in .308 Winchester. The ammunition is divided into three original cardboard boxes, each containing a plastic tray for 20 cartridges. These rounds are loaded with 168-grain Sierra MatchKing Boat-Tail Hollow Point (BTHP) projectiles, a design focused on aerodynamic stability and consistency for long-range target applications. The cartridges feature high-quality brass casings with primers sealed by a blue lacquer. Verbatim markings on the packaging include Federal Premium Ammunition and Gold Medal on the front panels, with the end flaps displaying GM308M, 308 Win., 168 Grain Sierra Matchking BTHP, and Gold Medal Match. The brass headstamps are clearly marked with F C on the top half and 308 WIN on the bottom half. These cartridges appear to be factory-loaded and intended for precision rifle platforms.
Condition report:
The ammunition is in excellent overall condition, with the brass casings showing a bright finish and no visible signs of oxidation, corrosion, or tarnishing. The blue primer sealant is uniform and intact across the visible rounds. Projectiles are securely seated with no evidence of setback or damage to the hollow point tips. The three cardboard boxes show some shelf wear consistent with age and storage, including minor scuffing, edge fraying, and small areas of paper loss on the end flaps and corners. The internal plastic trays are intact and hold the cartridges securely.
