Spanish Oviedo Model 1893 Sporterized Bolt Action Rifle 7x57mm Mauser with 29 Inch Barrel
Sold for: $250
Description
This is a Spanish Oviedo Model 1893 bolt action rifle that has been converted into a sporting configuration and is chambered for the 7x57mm Mauser cartridge. The firearm retains its original military-length barrel measuring approximately 29 inches, which features a blued finish and is equipped with a hooded blade front sight and a graduated tangent rear sight. The receiver ring is prominently marked with a Spanish crown crest and transcribed verbatim as FABRICA DE ARMAS OVIEDO 1906. Technical markings include the serial number O 9773 on the left side of the receiver and a matching serial number 9773 on the bolt handle. The floorplate and trigger guard assemblies are non-matching to the receiver, bearing the markings 1352 and D 1352 respectively. The barreled action is mounted in a one-piece wood sporter-style stock with a high-gloss finish, featuring a pistol grip, sling swivels, and a rubber-capped buttplate. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The blued finish on the barrel and receiver shows general thinning and wear, particularly towards the muzzle and along the edges of the action. The floorplate and trigger guard exhibit significant finish loss and areas of light to moderate surface pitting. The bore was not inspected, but the action appears to function correctly and the bolt cycle is smooth. The wood sporter stock is in good condition, retaining a bright high-gloss finish with scattered light handling marks, dings, and a small hairline crack visible in the wood directly behind the receiver tang.
