Description
This Remington Sportsman-48 is a recoil-operated semi-automatic shotgun chambered for 12-gauge shells up to 2 3/4 inches in length. It is equipped with a 30-inch barrel featuring a ventilated rib and a single front bead sight. The barrel is marked as having a fixed full choke. The shotgun has been treated with an aftermarket yellow and brown camouflage paint finish over all metal surfaces and the checkered wood stock and forend. It is fitted with an aftermarket black rubber LimbSaver recoil pad. Verbatim markings on the left side of the receiver include the model designation Remington SPORTSMAN-48 and the serial number 3123071. The barrel is stamped with REMINGTON ARMS CO., INC., ILION, N.Y. MADE IN U.S.A. PATENT NO. 2,278,589 OTHERS PENDING along with 12 GA. FOR 2 3/4 OR SHORTER SHELLS and the choke designation FULL. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The overall condition is well-worn with extensive finish loss throughout. The aftermarket camouflage paint is heavily chipped, peeled, and scratched on the barrel, receiver, and furniture, revealing the original blued finish and wood grain underneath. Some surface oxidation and light rust are visible on the exposed metal components, particularly on the barrel and magazine cap. The checkered wood stock and forend show scattered dings and scratches consistent with field use. The bore was not inspected, but the exterior of the barrel shows signs of heavy use. The action appears to function correctly, though it has not been live-fire tested. The LimbSaver recoil pad shows typical signs of wear and remains securely attached.
