Gun Collectors Dream Auction #84 June 13th & 14th
Lot 264:
Description
The Stoeger Luger is a toggle-action semi-automatic pistol chambered in .22 Long Rifle, designed to mirror the classic profile and mechanical operation of the German P.08 service pistol. This specimen features a 4.5 inch tapered barrel equipped with a fixed blade front sight and a rear notch integrated into the toggle assembly. The firearm is finished with a high-polish blue on the receiver and barrel, while the frame is composed of a black-finished alloy. The grips are smooth, uncheckered walnut panels. Verbatim markings on the left side of the frame include the serial number 44259 and the text Manufactured in the U.S.A. by STOEGER ARMS CORPORATION S. HACKENSACK, NEW JERSEY PATENTS PENDING. The right side of the receiver features an engraved scroll containing LUGER ® REG. U.S. PAT. OFF. and the caliber designation CAL. .22 L.R. is marked further forward. The top of the toggle is stamped with the Stoeger eagle logo. Included in this lot is the original factory box labeled for Model STLR-4 with a matching serial number, an owner instruction booklet, a service manual, and one magazine. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The pistol is in very good to excellent overall condition, retaining approximately 97% of its original blued finish with only minor thinning at the muzzle and on the edges of the toggle knobs. The black finish on the alloy frame remains nearly completely intact with minimal signs of handling. The smooth walnut grips are well-preserved, showing attractive grain and no cracks or significant dings. The bore is bright with sharp, well-defined rifling. The toggle-action appears to function correctly, and the safety and magazine release mechanisms are operational. The original factory box exhibits significant shelf wear, scuffing, and edge fraying, though the labeling remains clear and the structure is solid.
