Description
This is a MEC Mayville Engineering Company Model 600 Jr. ’82 single-stage shotshell reloading press configured for 20 gauge shells. The unit is constructed with a red-painted cast metal base and a black-finished steel frame operated by a lever arm featuring a red polymer finger-grooved grip. It is equipped with two amber-colored plastic reservoirs for shot and powder, both of which display the manufacturer’s logo and detailed safety instructions. The press utilizes a sliding charge bar mechanism and includes a complete set of integrated dies for the reloading sequence, including depriming, sizing, priming, wad seating, and crimping. The shell carrier plate is specifically stamped with the number 20 indicating its gauge configuration. Verbatim markings on the base include the mec logo inside an oval, PATENT NO. 4,048,833, and MODEL 600JR ’82. The plastic hoppers also feature the mec logo and text reading SHELL RELOADING TOOLS, SHOT #, and POWDER alongside various CAUTION statements.
Condition report:
The reloading press is in used condition, showing evidence of regular previous use. The red-painted base and handle exhibit scattered surface wear, paint loss, and areas of thinning finish, particularly at the edges and contact points. Minor oxidation and surface rust are present on the black-finished metal components and some hardware. The amber plastic reservoirs are intact but show surface scratches, clouding, and significant adhesive residue from previous labeling. The red polymer grip is well-preserved with minor grime in the grooves. The mechanical action appears to cycle through its stages correctly, though the unit has not been tested with live components.
