Description
This is an RCBS carbide three-die reloading set chambered for .44 Magnum and intended for use with semi-wadcutter projectiles. The set includes a carbide sizing die, an expander die, and a seating/crimping die, all housed in the original green plastic storage box from the Omark Industries era of production. The carbide sizing die is designed to resize brass cases without the necessity of case lubricant. Technical markings on the case label designate this as Group B, Part # 18606, and specify the use of a # 18 shell holder. Verbatim markings on the case lid include the embossed RCBS and OMARK INDUSTRIES logos accompanied by handwritten ink notations reading 44 MAG and CARB. The factory label reads RCBS OMARK INDUSTRIES, GROUP B, PART # 18606, USE SHELL HOLDER # 18, and CARBIDE 3 DIE SET 44 MAG SWC. One of the dies is fitted with an adjustment screw stamped 44 SPEC, indicating cross-compatibility for loading .44 Special cartridges. The dies feature a variety of locking ring styles, including a split-ring with a cross-bolt and standard knurled rings with set screws. Please note that the required # 18 shell holder is missing from this set.
Condition report:
The reloading dies are in used condition, showing visible surface oxidation and light rust on the exterior knurled adjustment surfaces and locking rings. The threaded portions of the die bodies appear to be in good functional order with clean threads. The carbide inserts and internal sizing surfaces appear well-maintained. The green plastic storage case shows typical wear, surface dirt, and some staining, along with the handwritten notations on the lid as previously described.
