Description

This sporterized bolt-action rifle is built on a U.S. Springfield Armory Model 1903 receiver and is chambered in .30-06 Springfield. The firearm is equipped with a replacement barrel measuring approximately 24 inches in length that features prominent markings including U.S.M.C., 1-44, and a circled S, identifying it as a Sedgley-manufactured Marine Corps replacement barrel dated January 1944. The receiver is marked with the serial number 650016. The metal components show a blued finish that has thinned and silvered over time, particularly along the barrel and high points of the receiver. The rifle is housed in a custom walnut sporting stock with a Monte Carlo comb, a raised cheekpiece, a black forend tip, and a matching pistol grip cap with white spacers. It is topped with a vintage Weaver telescopic sight featuring a fine crosshair reticle with a center dot, secured in Weaver detachable mounts. The buttstock is fitted with a brown rubber Pachmayr recoil pad marked TRADE WHITE LINE MARK Pachmayr GUN WORKS LOS ANGELES 15, CALIFORNIA U.S.A. and includes a brown leather military-style adjustable sling. The action appears to function correctly, though it has not been live-fire tested. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.

Condition report:

The metal surfaces retain approximately 50-60 percent of their original blued finish, with notable thinning on the barrel and silvering on the receiver and bolt handle. The bore is bright with sharp rifling. The custom walnut stock is in good overall condition but displays numerous handling marks, including several prominent scratches on the right side of the buttstock. The Weaver optic remains clear, and the crosshair reticle is intact, though the exterior of the scope tube shows scattered surface wear. The leather sling is intact and remains supple. The action cycles smoothly.
