Gun Collectors Dream Auction #84 June 13th & 14th
Lot 471:
Sold for: $275
Description
This single bolt-action sporting rifle is built on a surplus U.S. military action and is chambered in .30-06 Springfield. The rifle features a custom-finished walnut stock with a Monte Carlo comb, a raised cheekpiece, and point-pattern checkering on the wrist and forend. The stock is accented with a dark wood forend tip and a decorative grip cap, both featuring light-colored spacers. The metal components exhibit a high-gloss blued finish, though the barrel shows significant areas of pitting and surface oxidation along its exterior. The firearm is equipped with a Redfield receiver-mounted aperture rear sight and a ramped, hooded Redfield front sight. The bolt assembly has a polished body and a blued handle that has been swept to provide clearance for an optic. Prominent markings on the receiver bridge include U.S. REMINGTON MODEL 03-A3 and the serial number 4097218. The ventilated rubber recoil pad is marked LEE’S SPORTS EXCH. 7931 S. BROADWAY LOS ANGELES 3, CALIF. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The receiver retains a high percentage of its glossy blued finish with only minor edge wear. However, the barrel exhibits significant and widespread clusters of pitting and surface oxidation along its length. The bolt body is bright with light staining and the handle shows minor finish thinning. The custom walnut stock is in good overall condition with scattered light dings and handling marks consistent with use, while the checkering remains well-defined. The bore was not inspected. The action appears to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm.
