Lot 501:
Yugoslavian M48 Bolt Action Rifle 8mm Mauser
Sold for: $225
Description
This is a sporterized Yugoslavian M48 bolt action rifle chambered in 8mm Mauser (8x57mm). The rifle is built on a standard Mauser 98-style action with a blued finish on the barrel and receiver, while the bolt assembly remains polished. It is housed in a modified military hardwood stock that has been shortened and contoured for sporting use, featuring a rounded forend, a military-style through-bolt sling slot in the butt, and an added screw-in front sling swivel stud. Sighting is provided by a Williams receiver-mounted aperture peep sight and a ramped blade front sight. Verbatim markings include the serial number V 11021 stamped on the receiver ring and bolt handle, with the barrel marked 8 X 57 below three vertically stacked proof marks. The rear sight is marked WILLIAMS, and the steel buttplate bears a small M within a triangle. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The rifle exhibits a blued finish with thinning and wear consistent with field use, particularly on the barrel, receiver ring, and trigger guard. The polished bolt shows some light discoloration and handling marks. The hardwood stock has numerous dings, scratches, and impressions, including a circular wood patch repair on the right side of the butt. The action appears to function smoothly, though the firearm has not been function-tested or test-fired. The bore condition is not verified.
