Gun Collectors Dream Auction #84 June 13th & 14th
Lot 503:
Sold for: $75
Description
This is a Harris Engineering Model S-BRM rifle bipod, a high-quality support accessory designed to provide a stable shooting platform. The bipod features telescoping legs that adjust in notched increments from 6 to 9 inches in height, allowing for quick and repeatable deployment. This model is equipped with a swiveling base, enabling the shooter to cant the rifle to compensate for uneven ground, with lateral tension adjusted by a knurled knob located on the underside of the assembly. The unit attaches to a standard sling swivel stud via a padded mounting cradle and a screw-tensioned clamping system. The construction is primarily steel and aluminum with a matte black finish and features external heavy-duty tension springs to assist in leg deployment and retraction. The legs are capped with large textured rubber feet for enhanced grip on various surfaces. Key markings include HARRIS USA and SBRM stamped verbatim on the upper pivot plate.
Condition report:
The bipod shows signs of moderate field use. The black finish exhibits wear and thinning on several surfaces, most notably on the edges of the mounting cradle and the adjustable leg sections. The protective padding on the upper cradle shows indentations from contact with a rifle stock but remains intact. The tension springs are strong, and the leg adjustment notches provide firm, positive engagement. The swiveling base and tensioning knob appear to be in good working order, and the rubber feet show minimal wear.
