Gun Collectors Dream Auction #84 June 13th & 14th
Lot 545:
Sold for: $85
Description
This lot consists of a collection of eight semi-automatic pistol magazines designed for 9mm Luger Parabellum handguns, with several specifically identified for the Smith & Wesson 59 series. The group includes seven assembled magazines and one additional magazine provided as separate components including the body, spring, follower, and base plate contained within a plastic bag labeled S&W Parts. The magazines are primarily constructed of blued steel and utilize a mix of steel and polymer followers and floorplates. Key markings transcribed verbatim include stamped text on one magazine reading CAL. 9 PARA MADE IN BRAZIL and various stickers and handwritten notations across the lot such as S&W 59 series, LE only 9mm 15 shot, 15 ROUNDS, 13 ROUNDS, and LE only S&W 59 series 20-. Capacity indicators include witness holes numbered up to 14 or 15 rounds on several units. One magazine features a distinctive bright red polymer follower. These magazines represent a variety of manufacturers and periods, including factory original and aftermarket examples compatible with Smith & Wesson second and third-generation double-stack 9mm pistols.
Condition report:
The magazines exhibit a range of physical conditions consistent with regular field use. The blued finishes show moderate wear, thinning at the contact points, and scattered surface scratches. There are minor areas of surface oxidation and light pinprick pitting visible, particularly on the base plates and the lower portions of the magazine bodies. The followers in the seven assembled units appear to move freely under spring tension, and the floorplates are secure. The disassembled magazine appears to have all necessary components present for reassembly, though the body shows more significant finish wear and some surface residue compared to the others.
