Lot 553:
A Lot of 180 Spent .308 Winchester Ammunition Casings
Sold for: $40
Description
This bulk lot consists of 180 spent centerfire rifle ammunition casings chambered in .308 Winchester, primarily intended as empty .308 Win brass casings for reloading. The collection is composed of bottlenecked brass casings, including at least one nickel-plated specimen. Technical observations of the headstamps reveal a variety of manufacturers and production years. Key markings include Hornady 308 Win, PPU 18 featuring red primer sealant, MEN 16 featuring green primer sealant, FC 10 with a circled cross NATO symbol, and WIN. The casings are provided in a spent state, showing characteristic carbon residue at the necks and indented primers from previous discharge.
Condition report:
The casings are in spent condition and appear to be once-fired. The exterior brass surfaces exhibit varied degrees of light tarnish and minor surface oxidation consistent with typical use. Carbon fouling is present at the case mouths and interior neck areas. Primers remain seated in the primer pockets and show distinct firing pin strikes. The casings appear structurally sound for reloading purposes, with no visible splits or significant crushing observed in the sampled pieces.
