Gun Collectors Dream Auction #85 Weapons of War July 18th 10AM CST
Lot 127:
Sold for: $75
Description
This lot consists of seventy rounds of .303 British caliber military surplus ammunition mounted on fourteen individual metal stripper clips. The cartridges are organized within two plain white cardboard boxes, each containing seven clips of five rounds each. The ammunition features brass cases with visible annealing discoloration at the neck and shoulder, copper-jacketed spitzer-style projectiles, and green primer sealant. Each black-finished metal stripper clip is stamped with the mark BP and features five circular witness holes for visual round counting. Key markings found on the cartridge headstamps include a crown symbol and the numerals 7 and 6, which likely indicate a 1976 manufacture date. These clips are designed for rapid loading into rifles such as the Lee-Enfield series and other firearms chambered in .303 British.
Condition report:
The ammunition and clips are in good overall condition. The brass cases exhibit minor surface tarnishing and light oxidation consistent with age, but no significant corrosion or structural damage is observed. The copper-jacketed projectiles appear securely seated and the primers are intact. The black-finished metal stripper clips show some minor surface wear and occasional thinning of the finish at the edges. The ammunition appears to be live. The white cardboard boxes show moderate shelf wear, including light staining and creasing.
