Description
This is an Imperial Russian Model 1891 bolt-action rifle chambered in 7.62x54R, exhibiting Finnish Army capture and modification markings. The rifle features a 31.5 inch barrel and a hexagonal receiver, finished in a dark military bluing that shows thinning and a dark patina consistent with its age and service history. The firearm is mounted in a straight-wrist wood stock with metal-lined sling slots, a steel buttplate, and a finger-groove forend. It is equipped with a blade front sight and a ladder-style rear sight, which retains the original Russian arshin graduations on the top and features Finnish distance markings on the left side of the base. Key markings on the barrel shank include the Imperial eagle crest above the Cyrillic transcription ИМПЕРАТОРСКIЙ ТУЛЬСКIЙ ОРУЖЕЙНЫЙ ЗАВОДЪ, the date 1899 г., and the serial number N-88503. Additional markings include a boxed SA Finnish Army property stamp and a large D chamber modification mark. The bolt handle is stamped with a matching serial number 88503. A discrete import mark near the muzzle reads M91 RUSSIAN 7.62X54R CAI ST ALB VT. The rifle includes an original-style cleaning rod. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The blued metal finish shows widespread thinning and a dark, even patina, with scattered light surface oxidation and handling wear. The bore was not inspected but the action appears to function smoothly; however, the firearm has not been test-fired. The wood stock remains in sound condition but displays numerous dings, scratches, and abrasions from military use, including a small hairline crack visible behind the receiver tang.
