Description

This collection consists of six pieces of United States military medical equipment dating to the World War II era. The assortment includes a Carlisle Model first aid packet featuring an olive drab treated-fabric exterior with printed instructions identifying the manufacturer as Acme Cotton Prod. Co., Inc., N.Y.C. Also included is an original paper packet containing eight sulfadiazine tablets (7.7 grains each) manufactured by The Upjohn Company of Kalamazoo, Michigan, intended for oral use in the event of severe wounds. The collection further contains three small individual troop camouflaged dressing boxes; markings on one box identify the Handy Pad Supply Co. of Worcester, Massachusetts, while another is housed in a secondary cardboard sleeve. The final component is an individual camouflaged dressing preserved in its original brown paper protective wrapping, marked by Acme Cotton Products Co., Inc. These dressings were specifically dyed to a tan or brown color to prevent the white material from compromising a soldier’s position in the field. All items feature period-correct markings, including stock numbers and application instructions.

Condition report:

The collection is in good vintage condition. The olive drab fabric packet remains intact with clear, legible silver printing. Cardboard components exhibit standard signs of age, including shelf wear, edge bumping, light staining, and foxing. The paper-wrapped sulfadiazine packet is sealed but shows heavy creasing and minor surface discoloration. One box is currently stored within a clear plastic protective sleeve.
