Lot 192:
Sold for: $1,500
Description
This is a Colt Model 1851 Navy single action percussion revolver chambered in .36 caliber. It features the standard 7.5 inch octagonal barrel with an integrated loading lever and a six shot cylinder. The revolver is constructed with a steel frame and barrel paired with a brass trigger guard and backstrap. The furniture consists of a one piece smooth walnut grip. Key markings include the barrel address ADDRESS SAML COLT / HARTFORD CT on the top flat and the COLTS / PATENT stamping on the left side of the frame. The matching serial number 204013 is visible on the barrel lug, frame, trigger guard, backstrap, and cylinder, while the last four digits 4013 are stamped on the loading lever. The metal surfaces have transitioned to a dark brown patina and the brass components show a natural aged tarnish. Note – As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.
Condition report:
The metal surfaces exhibit an overall dark brown patina with significant pitting and oxidation present on the barrel, cylinder, and frame. The brass trigger guard and backstrap are in good condition with an attractive aged patina. The one piece walnut grips show moderate wear, including scattered dings and impact marks, but remain structurally sound. The hammer and cylinder timing appear to function, however, we have not function tested this firearm. The bore was not inspected but the exterior condition suggests the likelihood of internal pitting.
