Gun Collectors Dream Auction #85 Weapons of War July 18th 10AM CST
Lot 25:
Sold for: $80
Description
This lot consists of 117 rounds of .45 caliber ammunition produced by the Federal Cartridge Corporation, housed in three original two-piece cardboard boxes. The ammunition is designated as Ball Match, intended for high-precision target shooting, and is chambered in caliber .45 M1911. Each round features a brass casing and a copper-jacketed round-nose bullet. The boxes are labeled with prominent markings including 50 CARTRIDGES, BALL MATCH, CALIBER .45 M1911, LOT FC, and FEDERAL CARTRIDGE CORPORATION. Additionally, the boxes bear a stamped numerical identifier 1915 on the lower right face. While the boxes were originally designed to hold 50 rounds each in internal cardboard grid trays, this specific lot contains a total verified count of 117 rounds. The manufacturing style and labeling are consistent with mid-20th century target-grade munitions provided for competitive and military match shooting.
Condition report:
The cardboard boxes show moderate shelf wear, with some light fraying at the edges and surface smudging, though the printed labels remain clearly legible. The ammunition is in very good condition, showing clean brass cases with minimal tarnish or oxidation. The copper-jacketed projectiles appear well-preserved with a consistent finish. All cartridges appear to be live factory loads.
