Sold for: $170
Description
A lot comprising 240 rounds of 5.56x45mm NATO ammunition, secured to 10-round metal stripper clips and presented with an Olive Drab (OD) green cotton canvas bandolier. The ammunition is identified as M196 Tracer rounds, distinguished by the red or orange painted projectile tips. The bandolier is a standard US military pattern featuring white contrast stitching, multiple ammunition pockets, and a shoulder strap, typically used as part of an ammunition repack kit for the M16 rifle platform. The metal stripper clips bear the stamped marking 800-4889-. This equipment configuration was commonly utilized for field resupply and storage within M19A1 ammunition cans during the Vietnam War era through the late 20th century.
Condition report:
The ammunition and bandolier are in good surplus condition. The canvas material shows light fraying along the pocket edges and shoulder strap consistent with age and storage. The brass cases display a natural aged patina with some areas of surface tarnish and minor oxidation. The painted tips on the projectiles exhibit minor wear and age-related discoloration.
