Gun Collectors Dream Auction #85 Weapons of War July 18th 10AM CST
Lot 395:
Sold for: $100
Description
A vintage military field bugle produced according to United States government specifications. The instrument is constructed of brass and features a traditional double-twist design with a spun bell. Two integrated brass rings are soldered to the tubing for the attachment of a shoulder strap or decorative cord. The bell is incised with the text U.S. REGULATION above MADE IN U.S.A. It is equipped with a removable silver-toned nickel-plated brass mouthpiece of standard military pattern. This regulation pattern of bugle was produced by various American contractors for the Department of War during the first half of the 20th century.
Condition report:
Used, unrestored condition. The brass surfaces exhibit a heavy dark aged patina with significant tarnish and areas of verdigris oxidation concentrated at the joints. Several minor dings and surface abrasions are present throughout, consistent with age and field use. The silver-toned plating on the mouthpiece shows moderate wear but remains in functional condition. The bell flare has a small crimp and surface wear to the rim.
