Description

This lot consists of 60 rounds of loose centerfire rifle ammunition chambered in 8mm Mauser, also known as 7.92x57mm, intended for use in Mauser-pattern bolt-action rifles. These military surplus cartridges feature bottlenecked brass cases with visible annealing at the shoulder and neck, indicating their production for military service. The projectiles are copper-jacketed spitzer bullets, and the primers are finished with a red or pink lacquer sealant for moisture resistance. Analysis of the cartridge bases reveals production at Yugoslavian state factories in the early 1950s. Verbatim markings include the numbers 11 and 53 surrounded by four 5-pointed stars, 12 and 53 with four stars, and 12 and 54 with four stars. These headstamps identify manufacture at Factory 11, known as Prvi Partizan Uzice, and Factory 12, known as Igman Zavod Konjic, between the years 1953 and 1954.

Condition report:

The ammunition is in surplus condition, with the brass cases showing varying degrees of tarnish and light surface oxidation consistent with age and storage. The copper jackets on the spitzer projectiles appear intact with minor surface discoloration. The primers are properly seated and the lacquer sealant remains largely present across the lot. The cartridges appear to be live military surplus rounds.
