Description

This is a sporterized British Lee-Enfield No. 4 Mk I bolt-action rifle chambered in .303 British. Originally manufactured for military service, the rifle has been modified for hunting and sporting applications. It features a blued finish on the receiver and barrel which shows moderate thinning and handling wear throughout. The original military furniture has been replaced with a sporter-style Monte Carlo wood stock featuring a raised cheek piece, decorative diamond wood inlays on the forend and buttstock, and a red rubber recoil pad in the script of J.C. Higgins. The left side of the receiver is marked No 4 MK I T ROF (F) 5/44, indicating production at the Royal Ordnance Factory Fazakerley in May 1944. The receiver wrist bears the serial number 26635. The barrel is stamped with various British proof and export marks including ENGLAND, a crown over BNP, .303 2.222, and 18.5 TONS PER [square symbol]. The rifle is equipped with a Tasco 2-7x32mm variable power scope, marked #626A and JAPAN-A-568, mounted on a Weaver side-mount base. It includes a single detachable 10-round magazine with a mismatched serial number F 24309 and a brown leather adjustable sling. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.

Condition report:

The rifle is in good used condition with a blued finish showing honest thinning on the receiver, bolt handle, and barrel consistent with field use. The action appears to function correctly, though it has not been live-fire tested. The wood stock is solid with typical minor dings, scratches, and impressions from handling. The Tasco optic provides a clear sight picture with an intact reticle and functional adjustment dials. The bore was not inspected. The leather sling is supple and in serviceable condition. The red rubber recoil pad shows some age-related surface cracking but remains intact.
