Steyr Modelo 1912 Bolt Action Rifle .308 Winchester with 29 Inch Barrel
Sold for: $300
Description
This is a single Chilean contract Steyr Modelo 1912 bolt action rifle chambered in .308 Winchester. Originally manufactured as a military service rifle, this firearm has been re-chambered and mounted in a modern sporter configuration. The rifle features an approximately 29 inch barrel that retains its original military-style iron sights, consisting of a hooded front post and a rear tangent sight. Key markings include the Chilean national crest engraved on the receiver ring above the model designation MODELO 1912. The left side of the receiver is marked WAFFENFABRIK STEYR AUSTRIA and carries the serial number D. 773. The receiver bridge is stamped 7.62 N, indicating a conversion to 7.62x51mm NATO specifications, while the barrel is marked M12 .308 GERMANY. The bolt handle displays a non-matching serial number D 1804 along with small proof marks. The metal components exhibit a blued finish with visible handling wear, while the bolt, safety, and trigger guard have developed a brown-toned patina. The rifle is fitted with a black synthetic sporter-style stock featuring textured checkering on the pistol grip and forend, integrated sling swivel studs, and a black rubber recoil pad. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The blued finish on the receiver and barrel shows moderate wear and thinning consistent with use. The bolt assembly, safety lever, and trigger guard exhibit a distinct brown-toned patina with some areas of surface staining and light oxidation. The modern synthetic stock is in good condition with minor handling scuffs, and the textured checkering remains well-defined. The iron sights are intact and functional. The action appears to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm.
