Gun Collectors Dream Auction #85 Weapons of War July 18th 10AM CST
Lot 604:
Sold for: $60
Description
This lot features a collection of 38 rounds of 6.5x50mm Jap ammunition, a caliber intended for use in Japanese military rifles such as the Arisaka series. The cartridges are housed in a translucent grey smoke plastic storage box produced by Midway. Each round is comprised of a brass case with a pointed projectile and exhibits a green sealant ring at the mouth of the case. Verbatim headstamp markings on the bases of the cartridges include the characters 10, 51, 65, and D53. Although the interior lid of the box contains handwritten notations referencing 7.62 X 54R and Midway, the ammunition is identified as 6.5x50mm Jap. These cartridges are consistent with military surplus production and display physical characteristics associated with age and long-term storage.
Condition report:
The ammunition is in good surplus condition, showing surface tarnishing and oxidation on the brass cases typical of vintage military ordnance. The green sealant at the case mouths and primers remains largely intact across the collection. The Midway plastic storage box shows some light external scuffing but is structurally sound. The cartridges appear to be live rounds.
