Gun Collectors Dream Auction #85 Weapons of War July 18th 10AM CST
Lot 611:
Sold for: $75
Description
This lot consists of two wooden stocks designed for the US M1 Garand and a M1A M14, and one large olive drab canvas equipment bag. The first stock is crafted from dark-stained walnut and features a low wood configuration, which exposes more of the operating rod. It retains several metal components including the buttplate, recoil plate, and front band spring, and features a standard oval-shaped sling slot. The second stock is made of a lighter-colored wood, likely birch or stripped walnut, also in a low wood configuration, but is stripped of all metal hardware. The included canvas bag is a standard-issue style with a heavy-duty construction and metal grommets at the top for a drawstring.
Condition report:
Both stocks are in used, military surplus condition. The walnut stock shows a heavy patina with various scuffs, scratches, and dings consistent with field use. The lighter wood stock shows surface staining and small dark pits, possibly from old oil or moisture exposure. The canvas bag is in good condition with minor fading and superficial wear typical of surplus gear.
