Description
This Japanese Arisaka Type 99 bolt-action rifle, manufactured at the Nagoya Arsenal, is chambered in 7.7x58mm Arisaka and features a 26-inch barrel. Key markings include a defaced Imperial chrysanthemum on the receiver ring above the characters transcribed as 九九式, signifying the Type 99 model designation. The left side of the receiver is marked with a series symbol, the Nagoya Arsenal logo, and the serial number 0072594. The multi-piece wood stock exhibits a visible horizontal joint in the buttstock, which is also stamped with the number 278 on the left side of the comb. The metal finish shows a worn bluing with thinning throughout and areas of light surface oxidation. The rifle is equipped with an anti-aircraft style ladder rear sight with folding wings and includes a cleaning rod. This specific example is noted for having a missing magazine well floorplate, follower, and spring assembly. The bolt action appears to function smoothly, though we have not function-tested this firearm. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The original blued metal finish shows significant wear and thinning, with scattered areas of surface oxidation and light rust present on the barrel, receiver, and bolt. The multi-piece wood stock displays numerous dings, scratches, and abrasions consistent with military field use. The rifle is missing the magazine well internal components and floorplate. The bore was not inspected. The action appears to cycle correctly, but the firearm has not been live-fire tested.
