Lot 66:
Sold for: $500
Description
This lot features a Russian Nagant Model 1895 double-action revolver chambered in 7.62x38R. The firearm is equipped with a standard 4.5 inch barrel and the unique gas-seal system inherent to the design. The metal surfaces exhibit a blued finish that has aged into a distinct plum-colored patina on the frame and cylinder. The furniture consists of two-piece checkered wooden grips. Sights are comprised of a fixed front blade and a frame-integrated rear notch. Key markings include the Cyrillic manufacturer’s stamp on the left side of the frame transcribed as ТУЛЬСКIЙ / ОРУЖ / 1921 identifying production at the Tula Arms Plant in 1921, along with the stamped number 31438. The right side of the frame bears modern import markings transcribed as 1895 RUSSIA / 7.62x38R / C.A.I. GEORGIA VT. and the assigned serial number 189532337. Included with the revolver is a brown pebbled-leather holster with a canvas-lined interior bearing various inspection stamps and a metal loop-handled cleaning rod. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The revolver retains a blued finish with visible wear and thinning at the muzzle and high points, with a pervasive plum-colored patina on the frame and cylinder. The action appears to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm. The wooden grips are in good condition with light handling wear to the checkering. The bore was not inspected. The accompanying leather holster is well-preserved with intact stitching and a functional brass closure stud.
