Gun Collectors Dream Auction #85 Weapons of War July 18th 10AM CST
Lot 714:
Sold for: $45
Description
This lot features a Lyman All-American two-die rifle reloading set designed for the 8×57 Mauser cartridge, accompanied by a collection of ammunition components. The set is housed in its original black textured box from The Lyman Gun Sight Corporation of Middlefield, Connecticut, and includes a full-length sizing die and a seating die. Accompanying the reloading equipment are 27 live 8mm Mauser rounds fitted with orange polymer-tipped bullets and 21 empty brass casings. Key markings include the Lyman logo and manufacturer information on the box lid, along with a handwritten label reading 8×57 Mauser Dies. The dies themselves are stamped with the Lyman name and caliber designation. Headstamps on the included brass components specify R-P 8MM MAUSER, indicating manufacture by Remington-Peters. The lot is completed by a steel multi-tool wrench used for securing and adjusting the dies within a reloading press.
Condition report:
The Lyman reloading dies show standard signs of use including light surface tarnish on the polished steel and minor tool marks on the knurled adjustment rings. The original cardboard box displays moderate shelf wear with edge fraying, surface scuffing, and adhesive residue from a vintage price sticker. The 27 live rounds appear in good condition with minor oxidation on the brass and intact projectiles. The 21 empty brass casings show moderate to heavy tarnish consistent with being fired and stored in a used state. The steel multi-tool exhibits some surface rust and tarnish but remains fully functional.
