Gun Collectors Dream Auction #85 Weapons of War July 18th 10AM CST
Lot 85:
Sold for: $75
Description
This lot consists of 125 rounds of 8mm Mauser (7.92x57mm) rifle ammunition manufactured by Société Française des Munitions (SFM) in 1943 during the German occupation of France. The cartridges feature brass cases and full metal jacket (FMJ) projectiles with silver-colored jackets, characteristic of wartime production. Headstamp markings are divided into four quadrants and are transcribed verbatim as SF, 11, 7.9, and I 9 4 3. These markings identify the manufacturer, supplier code, caliber, and the specific date of manufacture. The ammunition is intended for use in Mauser-pattern bolt-action rifles and other firearms chambered for the 7.92x57mm cartridge. The rounds are presented in a loose configuration within a clear plastic storage container.
Condition report:
The ammunition is in good overall surplus condition. The brass cases exhibit a natural aged patina with light surface tarnish and minor storage wear. The silver-colored jackets on the projectiles remain mostly bright with some scattered areas of oxidation and dulling consistent with age. Primers are unspent and appear well-seated without evidence of significant corrosion or leakage. The ammunition appears to be live and well-preserved.
