Description
This is a single Weatherby Mark V bolt action rifle chambered in .300 Magnum. The rifle features a tapered barrel with a high-gloss blued finish and a fluted bolt assembly. The receiver is also finished in a deep blue and is drilled and tapped for the addition of scope mounts. It is mounted in a classic Weatherby Monte Carlo walnut stock characterized by its high-gloss finish, skip-line checkering on the forend and pistol grip, and a rosewood forend tip and pistol grip cap with white spacers. The grip cap further displays a contrasting diamond-shaped inlay. A brown vented rubber recoil pad marked with the Weatherby name is fitted to the butt. Verbatim markings on the left side of the receiver include Weatherby in script, MARK V, and U.S. PATENT 3,043,355. The left side of the barrel is marked Weatherby .300 MAGNUM. The right side of the front receiver ring is stamped with the serial number P 14002, and the right side of the barrel is marked MADE IN W-GERMANY. Condition report:
The rifle is in very good to excellent condition. The metal surfaces retain nearly all of their original deep blue finish with only minimal handling marks and a few faint scratches. The wood stock is well-preserved, showing several small dings and shallow surface scratches in the high-gloss lacquer, primarily on the buttstock and near the cheekpiece. The skip-line checkering remains sharp and defined. The action appears to function smoothly and correctly, and the bore, based on a muzzle inspection, appears bright. We have not function-tested this firearm.
