Description
This lot consists of a total of 200 rounds of Remington rimfire ammunition, comprised of four individual 50-round boxes. The collection includes two boxes of .22 Long Rifle Shot cartridges and two boxes of .22 Long cartridges. These cartridges feature brass cases with the characteristic stamped U headstamp on the base and are loaded with lead bullets. The packaging exhibits the classic mid-20th century Remington red, white, and green design and features the DuPont logo. Key markings visible on the boxes include Remington HI-SPEED, KLEANBORE, 50 RIM FIRE CARTRIDGES, and the DuPont trademark. The end flaps are specifically marked with the caliber and load designations 22 LONG RIFLE SHOT CARTRIDGES and 22 LONG CARTRIDGES. Side panels include the printed warning KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN and specify that the ammunition was made in the U.S.A. The cartridges appear to be in their original period packaging.
Condition report:
The cardboard boxes show varying degrees of shelf wear and age-related deterioration. One box of .22 Long Rifle Shot exhibits significant paper loss and tearing on the front and side panels. The other three boxes show moderate fraying at the edges, minor corner crushing, and some surface staining. The ammunition itself shows signs of age, with the brass casings exhibiting surface oxidation and darkening. The lead bullets show visible white oxidation, often referred to as lead bloom. The cartridges appear to be live; however, they are sold as vintage collectibles and have not been tested for functionality.
