Description
This Savage Model 99 is a classic lever action rifle chambered in .300 Savage featuring the iconic internal rotary magazine. The firearm is configured with a blued steel barrel and receiver showing a smooth finish with some case hardening color still visible on the lever. Notable markings include the caliber designation .300 SAVAGE followed by a circled SP proof and the text HI-PRESSURE STEEL-PROOF TESTED on the barrel. Additional barrel markings identify the maker as SAVAGE ARMS CORPORATION CHICOPEE FALLS, MASS. U.S.A. while the receiver bridge is stamped SAVAGE MODEL 99. The rifle is fitted with a checkered walnut pistol grip stock and matching forend both featuring a textured grip surface and a serrated metal buttplate. Sighting is handled by a ramped front sight with a bead a mid-barrel leaf sight and a Redfield aperture receiver sight mounted at the rear for improved accuracy. A padded leather sling is included and attached via metal swivels. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The blued finish on the barrel and receiver is in good condition showing typical thinning at the muzzle and high edges of the receiver along with some minor handling marks. The lever retains some faint case hardening color. The checkered wood stock and forend are in good used condition with scattered dings and light scratches consistent with field use. The serrated metal buttplate shows some surface oxidation and finish loss. The action appears to function correctly and the aperture sight adjusts properly.
