Gun Collectors Dream Auction #86 Collector Auction
Lot 1510:
Description
This lot consists of a vintage two-piece cardboard box containing a quantity of 25 rounds of 12-gauge ammunition. The packaging features the classic green, red, and yellow graphics associated with the Remington Arms Company and DuPont. Printed specifications on the box identify the contents as Shur Shot Shell target loads with a 2 3/4 inch shell length and a load equivalent of 3 drams, 1 1/8 ounces of shot, and number 9 shot size. Prominent markings verbatim include Remington, Kleanbore, DuPont, Shur Shot Shells, Smokeless, Wetproof, and Target Loads. The side panel further specifies the load as ST12M-9 Equiv. 3 – 1 1/8 – 9 and highlights the New Remington Crimp. Internal inspection of the box reveals that the 25 rounds are a mismatched assortment of paper-hulled shotgun shells rather than the original factory target loads. Visible shells include green hulls marked Extra Long Range and Long Range, as well as a red hull marked with a number 5 shot size.
Condition report:
The vintage cardboard box is in fair to good condition, exhibiting significant shelf wear, edge fraying, and corner tears consistent with age. A handwritten numeral 9 in pencil is present on the front face of the box. The ammunition consists of 25 mismatched rounds with various paper hulls. The hulls show typical aging and light discoloration, while the brass bases display varying degrees of oxidation, tarnish, and spotting. Primers appear original and unstruck, and the rounds appear to be live; however, as vintage ammunition, they are sold for collectible purposes only.
