Sold for: $55
Description
This lot consists of 80 vintage ammunition items housed in four original manufacturer boxes, including one Winchester box and three Remington Kleanbore boxes for the .30-40 Krag and .30 Army calibers. Based on provided information, the collection contains 20 live rounds and 60 empty brass casings intended for reloading. The Winchester box is dated 8-30 and is prominently labeled .30 ARMY FULL PATCH SMOKELESS CARTRIDGES WINCHESTER MAKE and Manufactured by the WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS COMPANY, New Haven, Conn., U.S.A. 8-30. Cartridges within this box feature headstamps reading W.R.A. CO. 30 ARMY. The three Remington boxes are marked for 30-40 KRAG AND WINCHESTER SMOKELESS ammunition and designated FOR .30 U.S. KRAG ARMY AND WINCHESTER MODEL 1895 RIFLE. These boxes display the KLEANBORE trademark and note 220 GRAINS METAL CASED BULLET construction by the REMINGTON ARMS COMPANY, INC. at the UMC BRIDGEPORT WORKS. Headstamps on the Remington casings read REM-UMC 30 USA. The collection exhibits a consistent aged patina across the brass components and significant storage wear on the vintage cardboard packaging.
Condition report:
The cardboard boxes show heavy age-related wear, including surface staining, edge fraying, and minor structural damage; the Winchester box label has a notable tear. The brass cartridge cases and empty casings have developed a dark, natural patina over time. The 60 empty brass casings feature struck primers and open necks, making them suitable for reloading. The 20 live rounds appear intact with round-nose metal cased bullets. No significant corrosion or green verdigris is visible on the brass.
