Description

This lot consists of 40 rounds of collectible military ammunition comprised of two original 20-round boxes manufactured at Frankford Arsenal. These .276 caliber ball cartridges were produced during the testing phase of the Pedersen and Garand semi-automatic rifles before the United States military ultimately standardized the .30-06 cartridge for the M1 Garand. The cardboard boxes feature a centered red horizontal band with CALIBER .276 printed in large black characters. Extensive printed markings identify the contents as 20 CARTRIDGES, BALL and specify the components as Powder, IMR 25 Lot 1324 and Cartridge Lot 21. The front face of each box also notes Drawings PD 42 and PC 50 and provides the manufacturing origin as FRANKFORD ARSENAL, 1929. Disposal instructions for empty cases are printed at the bottom, citing paragraph 29, A. R. 775-10. These items represent a significant era in American military small arms development.

Condition report:

The two boxes show age-related toning, light surface staining, and minor shelf wear to the edges and corners. Both boxes are currently protected and sealed in clear plastic wrap. One box has a handwritten 9 00 in black marker on the bottom edge. As the cartridges remain inside their original sealed boxes, the specific condition of the brass cases and primers cannot be visually verified, though the ammunition appears to be live and well-preserved.
