Description

This is a Colt Model 1903 Pocket Hammerless semi-automatic pistol chambered in .32 caliber, specifically marked for .32 Rimless Smokeless cartridges. Manufactured in 1915, this Type III variation features a 3.75 inch barrel and the iconic concealed hammer design intended for snag-free pocket carry. The exterior metal surfaces display a mottled gray and brown patina with scattered surface pitting and significant finish wear consistent with age and use. The firearm is fitted with two-piece black checkered hard rubber grips featuring the word COLT and the rampant colt logo; the right grip panel exhibits a prominent vertical crack. Sights include a fixed front blade and a notch rear sight integrated into the slide. Key markings on the left side of the slide include PATENTED / APR. 20, 1897. DEC. 22, 1903 followed by COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. / HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A. while the right side of the slide specifies COLT AUTOMATIC / CALIBRE 32 RIMLESS SMOKELESS. The frame is stamped with the serial number 188824 on the left side above the trigger guard, which also bears a VP in a triangle proof mark. Included with the pistol is one single-stack detachable magazine with a baseplate marked CAL. 32 / COLT. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.

Condition report:

The pistol is in fair overall condition. The original blued finish has almost entirely transitioned to a mottled gray and brown patina with areas of surface oxidation and pitting visible on the slide and frame. The bore appears dark with visible pitting. The mechanical action appears to function correctly when manually cycled, though we have not function-tested this firearm with live ammunition. The hard rubber grips show moderate wear to the checkering and the aforementioned crack in the right panel. The magazine shows finish loss and light surface rust consistent with the rest of the firearm.
