Description
This single tooled brown leather padded rifle sling is designed for use with a hunting rifle or shotgun. The shoulder pad section features elaborate decorative tooling depicting a buck’s head and acorns nestled among oak leaves, all framed within a scalloped border accented by light-colored contrast stitching. The interior of the pad is lined with a dark brown suede to provide comfort and prevent slipping on the shoulder. The sling is adjustable for length via a narrower secondary leather strap that is secured through the main body using brass-toned studs. One end is equipped with a black metal quick-detach style sling swivel, while the opposite end terminates in a leather lace tie for mounting to traditional swivel studs or barrel bands. A faint oval maker’s mark is embossed on the adjustment strap, though the characters within the stamp are too worn and illegible to be transcribed.
Condition report:
The leather is in good condition showing signs of moderate age and field use. There is light surface cracking and crazing visible, particularly near the adjustment holes and stress points. The leather has developed a natural patina with some darkening in handled areas. The suede backing remains intact but shows typical matting and wear. The metal hardware exhibits minor surface oxidation and loss of the black finish on the quick-detach swivel.
