Description
This lot consists of a collection of 100 rounds of .32 S&W caliber ammunition contained within two period retail boxes. The first item is a green two-piece box from the Remington Arms Company, Inc., Bridgeport, Connecticut, identified by product code R166. Verbatim markings on the primary label specify “32 S.&W. 50 CENTRAL FIRE CARTRIDGES”, “88 GRAINS BULLET”, and “REMINGTON ARMS COMPANY, INC. AMMUNITION AND FIRE ARMS UMC BRIDGEPORT WORKS BRIDGEPORT, CONN., U.S.A.” This box contains 51 cartridges featuring brass cases with “U.M.C. .32 S&W” headstamps and copper-colored primers. The second item is a yellow two-piece box for The Clinton Cartridge Company of Chicago, marked for “32 cal. S&W” and “Germany.” It displays the “CLINTON” diamond logo and contains 49 cartridges with brass cases featuring “A P C .32 S&W” headstamps and round-nose lead bullets. This combined group of 100 rounds represents a mix of early 20th-century commercial handgun ammunition suitable for vintage revolver collections.
Condition report:
The Remington box shows significant shelf wear, edge fraying, and a black marking on the primary label, though the graphics remain largely clear. The cartridges within this box have bright brass cases and show minimal surface oxidation on the lead bullets. The Clinton box exhibits heavier age-related wear, including staining, paper loss along the corners, and general structural softening. The cartridges in the Clinton box show a darker patina on the brass and more pronounced white oxidation on the lead bullets. All primers appear intact and unfired; however, we have not function-tested this ammunition and cannot guarantee ignition or safety performance.
