Gun Collectors Dream Auction #86 Collector Auction
Lot 47:
Sold for: $250
Description
This lot consists of two Thompson/Center Arms barrels designed for the break-action Contender pistol frame. Both barrels measure 10 inches in length. The first barrel is of round steel construction and is chambered in .22 Hornet. It features a top-mounted optics rail and a front sight ramp. The second barrel is a blued octagonal configuration chambered in .44 Magnum, equipped with a ramped front sight and a screw-adjustable rear leaf sight. Verbatim markings on the .22 Hornet barrel include THOMPSON : CENTER ARMS ROCHESTER, N.H. and HORNET on the left side, with a star-shaped stamp appearing on the mounting lug. The .44 Magnum barrel is marked THOMPSON : CENTER ARMS ROCHESTER, N.H. and 44 MAG on the top flats. Both units are fitted with integrated ejector/extractor mechanisms. While we have not function-tested these barrels on a frame, the mechanical components appear to move freely. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The .22 Hornet barrel is in poor exterior condition, exhibiting heavy surface pitting and significant oxidation along its entire length and on the front sight ramp. Its bore shows visible rifling but contains some debris and signs of frosting. The .44 Magnum barrel is in good to very good condition, retaining the majority of its original blued finish with only minor thinning and light handling marks. The bore of the .44 Magnum barrel is bright with sharp, well-defined rifling. Both mounting lugs and extractor assemblies show standard mechanical wear consistent with use.
