Description
This Smith & Wesson Model No. 1 1/2 Second Issue is a single-action tip-up revolver chambered for .32 rimfire. It features a five-shot fluted cylinder and a 3.5-inch octagonal barrel with a top rib. The frame and barrel are nickel-plated, equipped with a spur trigger and a bird’s head grip frame fitted with smooth rosewood panels. Verbatim markings on the barrel rib read SMITH & WESSON. SPRINGFIELD MASS. PAT. APR. 3. 55. JULY 5. 59 & NOV. 21. 65. The serial number 36499 is clearly stamped into the metal on the butt of the grip frame. The sights consist of a fixed semi-circular front blade and a rear notch integral to the barrel catch. Note – As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.
Condition report:
The original nickel-plated finish shows significant flaking, wear, and loss across the surfaces of the barrel, frame, and cylinder. There is notable oxidation and surface pitting, particularly concentrated on the cylinder flutes, the barrel rib, and the top-hinge mechanism. The bore appears dark with visible oxidation and residue throughout. The mechanical action appears to function correctly with the hammer and cylinder indexing, though the firearm has not been function-tested. The smooth rosewood grips remain in good condition for their age, showing typical minor scratches and handling wear while remaining structurally intact.
