Description
This is a Remington Model 700 bolt-action rifle chambered in 7mm Remington Magnum, featuring a blued stainless steel barrel characteristic of early production examples. The rifle is fitted with a high-gloss walnut stock featuring a raised cheekpiece, skip-line checkering on the forend and pistol grip, a black forend tip with a white spacer, and a black plastic buttplate embossed with the Remington logo. The receiver is marked with the serial number 184937 and Remington Model 700. It is topped with a Leupold M8-4X fixed-power scope featuring a duplex reticle, mounted on a one-piece base; the scope’s exterior finish has taken on a distinctive reddish-plum hue. The barrel is marked with the manufacturer’s name and address, Remington Arms Co. Inc., Ilion, N.Y. Made in U.S.A., along with patent numbers 2,473,373, 2,514,981, and 2,585,195. Additional barrel markings specify the caliber as 7mm Rem. Mag. and identify the material as Stainless Steel. Visible proof marks include the REP proof in an oval on the right side of the breech. The barrel has two pairs of plugged holes where iron sights were previously mounted. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The rifle displays a well-maintained blued finish on the barrel, while the receiver shows light surface freckling and minor finish thinning consistent with handling. The wood stock is in good condition with sharp checkering, showing minor handling wear and a small nick on the top of the comb. The bore was not inspected, but the action appears to function correctly although it has not been live-fire tested. The Leupold optic provides a clear image through the duplex reticle, though the exterior anodizing has shifted to a plum color.
