Description
This Smith & Wesson Model 36 is a double-action revolver chambered in .38 Special, built on the compact J-frame with a five-shot swing-out cylinder. It features a snub-nose 1.875-inch barrel and is constructed with a blued steel finish on the frame, barrel, and cylinder. The revolver is fitted with oversized, smooth wood target-style grips that feature a high-gloss finish. Sighting is provided by a fixed ramp front sight and a notched rear sight channel integral to the top strap. The firearm is equipped with an exposed serrated hammer and a smooth trigger. Markings include SMITH & WESSON on the left side of the barrel and .38 S.&W. SPL. on the right side. The right side of the frame bears a four-line address: MADE IN U.S.A. / MARCAS REGISTRADAS / SMITH & WESSON / SPRINGFIELD, MASS. The Smith & Wesson trade mark logo is stamped on the left side of the frame. Opening the cylinder reveals the frame is marked MOD 36 and the crane is stamped with assembly numbers 26798 and B8. No serial number is visible on the exterior surfaces shown as it is likely located on the grip frame butt beneath the oversized grips. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The revolver is in excellent condition, retaining the vast majority of its original blued finish with a very light cylinder turn line and minor holster wear at the muzzle. The bore is bright with sharp, well-defined rifling. The smooth wood grips are in good condition, showing minor handling marks and some light surface scratches in the glossy finish. The action appears to function correctly in both single and double-action modes, and the cylinder locks up tight, though we have not function-tested this firearm.
