Gun Collectors Dream Auction #86 Collector Auction
Lot 67:
Sold for: $180
Description
This lot comprises 361 rounds of remanufactured .218 Bee centerfire rifle ammunition housed in six plastic flip-top storage boxes of varying colors, including translucent white, green, and blue. The ammunition consists of rimmed, bottlenecked brass cases loaded with various projectile types, including copper-jacketed spitzer, jacketed soft-point, and jacketed hollow point bullets, consistent with components from manufacturers like Hornady. Notable markings transcribed from the cartridge headstamps include W-W SUPER 218 BEE, SUPER SPEED 218 BEE, and REM-UMC 218 BEE, indicating the brass cases were originally manufactured by Winchester-Western, Winchester, and Remington-Union Metallic Cartridge Company. The rounds feature a mix of brass and nickel-colored primers and show a diverse range of bullet weights and profiles suitable for varmint hunting and target shooting in firearms chambered for this classic small-bore caliber.
Condition report:
The ammunition and packaging are in good overall condition. The brass cartridge cases exhibit varying degrees of age-related tarnish and light surface oxidation but remain structurally sound. Projectiles appear securely seated, though some lead-exposed tips show minor oxidation typical of vintage components. The six plastic storage containers are intact and functional with no significant cracks or damage. This ammunition is sold as-is; we have not function-tested these rounds and cannot guarantee their performance or safety.
